Dodgers acquire 2-time Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal from Tigers

sports

The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired two-time reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers. Considered the biggest prize on the trade deadline market, the 29-year-old pitcher joins a star-studded roster that includes Shohei Ohtani.

In exchange for Skubal, the Dodgers sent Zyhir Hope, River Ryan, and Brady Smith to Detroit. Skubal fought to hold back tears early Sunday morning as he discussed the trade that is sending him to Los Angeles.

The move comes as the Dodgers, who have been World Series champions for the past two years, seek a three-peat. The team's need for pitching depth increased in recent weeks after Shohei Ohtani was sidelined from pitching due to bicep soreness and knee inflammation.

With the addition of Skubal, the first-place Dodgers are poised to enter October with one of the best pitching rotations in MLB history.
