Bournemouth have appointed German coach Marco Rose as their new head coach starting this summer. Rose has signed a three-year contract to succeed Andoni Iraola, who will leave the club at the end of the season upon the expiration of his contract. Iraola, who improved the team to 12th place in his first season and ninth in the last, stated that the appointment of Rose will leave the club in very good hands.
This will be the first Premier League job for the 49-year-old Rose, who has been without a club since being sacked by Leipzig in March 2025. His previous managerial experience includes roles at Salzburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Borussia Dortmund. Rose is known for his high-pressing, attacking style of play and possesses experience in both the Champions League and Europa League. He also has a proven track record of player development, having worked with stars such as Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, and Dominik Szoboszlai.
The club's owners were attracted to Rose's high-intensity approach, believing it aligns with the identity of the club. This transition comes as the Cherries sit eighth in the Premier League table, level on points with sixth-placed Chelsea. The team is currently on a 13-game unbeaten run, which includes consecutive 2-1 away wins against Arsenal and Newcastle.
Bournemouth stated that their immediate focus remains on finishing the current campaign as strongly as possible, with players and staff committed to achieving positive results. The club looks forward to welcoming Rose to Vitality Stadium in the summer to begin his tenure.
