Judge rejects Biden's bid to block release of recordings

A federal judge in Washington has denied former President Joe Biden’s request to block the Justice Department from turning over tapes and transcripts of interviews he privately recorded almost a decade ago. U.S. District Judge Dabney Friedrich cleared the way for the Justice Department to disclose these recorded conversations between the former president and his biographer to the Heritage Foundation, a conservative advocacy group.

In a ruling issued Friday, Judge Friedrich stated that the public interest in the material outweighed whatever privacy rights Biden held.

Biden, a former Democratic president, argued that releasing the recordings would violate his right to privacy.
