Uber, Pony.ai, and Verne are collaborating to launch the first commercial robotaxi service in Europe, beginning in Zagreb, Croatia. On-road testing is already happening in the capital city using Pony.ai’s Gen-7 system with the Arcfox Alpha T5 vehicle.
The partnership expands beyond previous work in the Middle East and aims to scale to thousands of vehicles across Europe, though a commercial launch date hasn’t been announced. Verne, a startup under Rimac Group, is central to the rollout.
This initiative marks a significant step for autonomous vehicle technology in the region, bringing driverless cars to European roads for public use. The companies are working to establish a widespread robotaxi network.
