Jason Arday, 41, the former youngest Black professor at the University of Cambridge, was found dead at his home in south London on Friday. The Metropolitan police stated that officers were called to Arday's address by the London ambulance service after 3 p.m.
Arday had resigned from his position at the university last week following intense media scrutiny. His resignation came after the university announced an investigation into allegations of fabrication and plagiarism, specifically regarding parts of his doctoral thesis.
Appointed in 2023, Arday's rapid academic rise and subsequent fall sparked a wider debate. The situation led to discussions over whether he was a plagiarist and fantasist or a victim of a racial witch hunt.
