President Donald Trump has claimed that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to stop striking each other's energy targets. This announcement follows a period of soaring energy costs, with U.S. diesel prices surpassing $6 a gallon for the first time ever. Trump attributed the price rise mostly to the Russia/Ukraine war rather than Iran.
The president had previously urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to halt strikes on Russian diesel fuel infrastructure and refineries, citing a global shortage caused by these attacks. Trump criticized and chastised Kyiv for these strikes during a trip to Ireland over the weekend.
Russia has offered no comment on the reported agreement. Ukraine stated that it expects specifics from its partners regarding any such move.
