Nobel laureate Narges Mohammadi released on bail and moved to Tehran hospital

Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi has been released on bail and transferred to a hospital in Tehran for urgent medical treatment. The human and women's rights activist, who has spent much of her adult life in and out of prison, has had her sentence suspended due to her medical needs.

Mohammadi was moved to the capital after collapsing in prison earlier this month. She reportedly suffered two suspected heart attacks while behind bars in Zanjan, northern Iran, where she had been hospitalized for 10 days prior to her transfer.

According to a foundation run by her family, the transfer occurred following intensified international pressure over her deteriorating health. Mohammadi, who was jailed for campaigning against Iran's clerical system, remains in critical care.
