British Prime Minister Andy Burnham traveled to Kyiv on Monday for his first international trip since taking office. The visit coincides with Ukraine marking its 35th independence day.
The trip is an attempt to demonstrate that the United Kingdom will maintain diplomatic and military support for Kyiv as the war with Russia enters a decisive phase. Prime Minister Burnham affirmed this support despite new warnings from Moscow regarding the consequences of doing so.
While in Kyiv, Burnham is meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and co-chairing a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, a group of Ukraine's main backers and allies. He is leading this meeting alongside French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The European Council President is also among the foreign leaders and dignitaries present in the city.
