Yang Youlin, a former official in the eastern Chinese city of Nanjing, has been sentenced to death by a Chinese court on corruption charges.

Yang, who served as an executive of a government management committee and economic development official, accepted bribes worth more than $323.7 million over three decades. The court stated that these bribes were accepted in exchange for business favors.

The rare death sentence underscores the intensity of President Xi Jinping’s anti-graft crackdown.
