Lando Norris claimed McLaren's first victory of the 2026 season with a dominant drive from pole position in the Miami Grand Prix sprint race. By securing the sprint pole, Norris became the first driver to beat a Mercedes in qualifying this year, with Mercedes title leader Kimi Antonelli finishing second fastest.

McLaren achieved a one-two finish in the sprint race as Norris and teammate Oscar Piastri finished first and second. This result knocked Mercedes off the podium for the first time this season. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc finished third in the sprint after starting from fourth.

For Sunday's Miami Grand Prix, championship leader Kimi Antonelli bounced back from a difficult sprint to storm to his third successive pole position. Red Bull's Max Verstappen will join the Mercedes youngster on the front row.

Oscar Piastri will line up third for the main race, with Charles Leclerc starting alongside him on the second row for Ferrari.
