Todd Blanche, acting U.S. Attorney General, has stated President Trump has a right and duty to shape federal probes involving those who investigated him. He is currently filling the role following Pam Bondi’s departure and is not rushing to appoint a permanent replacement.
Blanche, formerly Trump’s personal lawyer, has defended investigations of the president’s political opponents and dismissed claims the Justice Department is being weaponized. He also stated he doesn’t feel pressure to pursue cases demanded by the White House, despite pledges to support the president’s agenda.
While leading the Justice Department, Blanche has taken a key role in efforts to address grievances against Trump’s perceived enemies. He has declined to comment on whether he intends to seek the permanent Attorney General position.
