Canada achieved its first-ever World Cup last 16 appearance after a 1-0 victory over South Africa on Sunday. World Cup co-hosts Canada secured the win thanks to a dramatic stoppage-time strike from distance by Stephen Eustaquio.
Eustaquio scored his goal in the second minute of second-half stoppage time, marking Canada's first knockout match victory in a World Cup. Canada coach Jesse Marsch noted that Eustaquio delivered a moment his late parents would have been proud of.
Canada will move on to face either the Netherlands or Morocco on July 4. The match will take place in Houston as Canada competes for a place in the quarter-finals.
