Ann Widdecombe, a former government minister and spokesperson for the far-right Reform UK party, was found dead in her home in Devon on July 9. Police reported that she had sustained serious injuries.
British prosecutors have charged 28-year-old Joshua Kerry with murder. Kerry, who is from Rotherham in Yorkshire, was arrested in his hometown, located approximately 300 miles from Widdecombe's residence.
Kerry was charged after spending more than a week in custody on suspicion of murder and acts of terror. Police are currently investigating a possible political motive in the killing of the Reform UK figure.
