British Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced on Monday that the UK has agreed to a request from Saudi Arabia to provide limited military support. This support will involve defensive air-to-air refuelling of Saudi jets for a limited time period.
The move is intended to help repeal attacks by Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen and stabilize the wider region. By defending energy infrastructure and ensuring oil continues to flow from the Gulf, the Prime Minister stated the effort aims to ease global economic turmoil and drive down the cost of living at home.
Ahead of his first meeting with Donald Trump, Burnham said he will urge Trump to bring an end to the conflict with Iran.
