Lebanon and Israel resumed U.S.-mediated talks on Tuesday in the Italian capital of Rome. The discussions were aimed at ending months of war between Israel and Hezbollah.
While expectations for swift progress were initially low, Beirut sought to secure an Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon under the brokered deal.
The talks concluded on Wednesday, with a U.S. official stating that progress had been made on implementing a plan that could see Israeli forces begin to withdraw from some parts of southern Lebanon within days.
