A boat carrying Tunisian migrants sank off the coast of southern Tunisia over the weekend while sailing toward Italy.
Tunisian coast guard forces have recovered the bodies of eight migrants, though the search continues for six others who are still missing. Earlier reports from a migrant rights group indicated that at least 13 Tunisians were missing and two people had been rescued after the vessel capsized.
This tragedy is part of a broader trend of perilous journeys, as thousands of people have died since 2014 attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea to reach Europe.
