Retired RAF fighter pilot Andy Green has set a world land speed record for a hydrogen-powered car. The record was achieved on Tuesday at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.
Green reached a speed of 406.320 mph (653.908 km/h), marking the fastest time ever recorded for a hydrogen-powered vehicle.
The car utilized two hydrogen internal combustion engines with a combined 1,600 horsepower. Green is the only person to have broken the sound barrier on land.
