Fighter jets on a NATO air defence mission shot down a drone that entered the airspace of Latvia early Friday. The incident was confirmed by the country's defence ministry and armed forces.
The Latvian military stated that as long as Russia's aggression in Ukraine continues, a recurrence of cases where foreign drones enter or approach Latvian airspace is possible.
The Baltic states, which neighbor Russia, have experienced numerous drone incursions into their territory. Finland, another NATO member, has also temporarily restricted its airspace.
