Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado drew several thousand supporters to a rally in Madrid during her visit to Spain.

Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stated that Machado was offered a meeting with him and his government, but she declined the offer because she did not consider it opportune.

Machado explained that the reason she declined the meeting with the prime minister was that he was hosting a summit of progressive leaders in Barcelona.
