A building belonging to the state-run energy company Saudi Aramco in Riyadh sustained damage on Sunday following an attack. The skyscraper, located in the King Abdullah Financial District, saw windows blown out across several floors.
Saudi authorities and the Energy Ministry reported that the damage was caused by falling debris and shrapnel from an intercepted missile. Officials confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.
The attack was claimed by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels from Yemen, who have repeatedly targeted Aramco facilities and infrastructure. Riyadh has been regularly targeted by Houthi strikes in recent weeks.
The targeting of the King Abdullah Financial District marks a major escalation in the ongoing conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis.
