A student opened fire at a school in southeast Turkey on Wednesday, killing four people and wounding 20 others. The victims included a teacher and three students, and the shooter is also dead. Authorities say the student arrived armed with firearms belonging to his father, a retired police officer.
This attack marks the country’s second school shooting in two days. A day earlier, 16 people, mostly students, were wounded when a former student opened fire at a high school in Şanlıurfa province before taking his own life during a confrontation with police.
Reports indicate the earlier attacker fired randomly inside the school, injuring both teachers and students. The recent incidents in Kahramanmaras and Şanlıurfa have raised concerns about school safety across Turkey.
