Gabbard Faces Questions on Iran Views at Hearing
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard is defending her agency’s assessment of the conflict with Iran before the Senate Intelligence Committee. She is expected to address concerns regarding mixed messages about Iran’s nuclear program, delivered prior to the war’s start. During last year’s annual hearing on global threats, Gabbard testified that Iran was not building a nuclear weapon. More recently, she reportedly removed a statement from congressional testimony asserting Iran hadn’t resumed uranium enrichment following strikes on its facilities. The omission would have challenged claims of an imminent threat from Tehran. Gabbard deflected questions from Democrats at this year’s worldwide threats hearing as tensions continue to rise regarding the ongoing war.
