Ubisoft co-founder Claude Guillemot dies at 69 in plane crash in France

Claude Guillemot, a co-founder of the global gaming company Ubisoft, has died in a plane crash in western France. Guillemot, who was 69, co-founded the publisher in 1986 alongside his brothers.

The accident occurred Friday evening near the coastal resort town of La Baule, which was scheduled to host an air show over the weekend. Guillemot and a flight instructor from Rennes were both killed when their twin-engine Cessna 421 crashed in a field near the La Baule aerodrome.

Ubisoft is the creator of major franchises including Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy. Authorities have confirmed the deaths, and an investigation into the crash is currently underway.
