Benin’s Finance Minister Romuald Wadagni won a landslide victory in the presidential election held on April 12, securing over 94% of the votes according to provisional results. The election saw Wadagni as the clear favorite.
Paul Hounkpe, the sole opposition candidate, conceded defeat on Monday, even as vote counting continued. State television reported Hounkpe’s acknowledgement of the results.
