British Prime Minister Andy Burnham stated that a suspected terror plot targeting RAF Fairford in southwest England was highly likely coordinated in Iran and almost certainly directed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The Prime Minister told parliament there were strong indications of Iranian involvement following a mysterious episode on September 27.
The incident led to the abrupt withdrawal of all U.S. B-1 heavy bombers from the airbase, which the United States had been using for its war in Iran. In response to the threats, the British government summoned Iran's ambassador.
As a result of the assessment, the UK will bring further sanctions against Tehran and the IRGC, with additional information to follow in an update from Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood. Foreign ministries from nearly 30 countries, including Canada and the U.S., have condemned Iran's attacks and vowed to take action against anyone acting on behalf of Tehran.
