A Russian guided bomb strike in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk, located in the Donetsk region, killed at least 33 people on Thursday. The attack targeted two passenger buses at a bus stop, leaving 18 others wounded. Local authorities described the incident as a targeted strike on civilians in a key stronghold, and public transport in the city has been suspended following the attack.
This incident is part of an escalating bombardment of Ukrainian cities. A day prior, an attack on an apartment building far behind the combat zone killed 22 people. In total, Russian missiles hitting civilian buses and apartment buildings have killed more than 50 people in two days. Additionally, shelling in a nearby village killed three more people, and recent strikes have worsened power outages in Kyiv.
Russia's attacks on ports, trains, and buses are paralyzing Ukraine's transport network and endangering civilians. President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed that the attack will not go unanswered and warned that Russia will likely escalate daily missile and drone attacks as winter approaches. Meanwhile, the Kremlin has stated there is no clear path to peace.
