Google, under Alphabet Inc., has filed a lawsuit to dismantle a suspected Chinese cybercrime operation known as Outsider Enterprise. The group is accused of conducting a massive scamming operation that targeted hundreds of thousands of people.

The fraudsters allegedly utilized artificial intelligence, specifically Google's own Gemini system, to facilitate their crimes. The group used the AI to generate hundreds of fake government and corporate websites designed to steal personal information.

Over a two-week period in May, the operation sent 2.5 million fraudulent text messages to Android users. These messages contained links to the Gemini-coded scam sites. The lawsuit claims these efforts resulted in losses totaling $1.9 billion.
