NASA has detailed plans for a moon base, an effort by the Trump administration to establish a lunar presence before the end of the decade. These details were released nearly two months after the successful completion of the Artemis II mission.
As part of the first phase of these plans, NASA awarded hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts to several space firms. The selected companies include Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin, Firefly Aerospace, Astrolab, and Lunar Outpost, which will send robotic landers, rovers, and drones to the moon.
Specifically, Lunar Outpost and Astrolab were each awarded contracts worth $281 million. These funds are designated for the construction of rovers capable of traveling autonomously on the lunar surface.
