President Donald Trump signed a presidential permit on Thursday authorizing the Bridger Pipeline Expansion, a project designed to carry Canadian crude oil into the central United States. The decision follows years of back-and-forth regarding oil pipelines linking the two countries.
The three-foot-wide pipeline would transport up to 550,000 barrels of oil a day from the Canadian border with Montana. The route would extend through eastern Montana and into Wyoming, where it would link up with another pipeline.
While the presidential permit has been granted, more state and federal approvals are still needed for the project to proceed.
