Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's government has officially become the longest-serving cabinet in Italy since the republic was founded after World War II. This milestone surpasses the record previously set by media tycoon Silvio Berlusconi, marking a rare period of durability for a coalition in a postwar era where governments often fell before the end of their mandates.
Meloni celebrated the achievement with a rally of supporters in the southern city of Bari. The event served as an opportunity to highlight the strength of her hard-right government and effectively kick off the campaign for next year's election and the 2027 election.
During the celebration, Meloni argued that four years of political stability have strengthened Italy both at home and abroad.
