The state of Utah has revoked the license of the Provo Canyon school, a boarding school located in Springville. This action follows allegations from socialite Paris Hilton, who stated she was abused at the facility as a teenager and claimed the school faced abuse allegations for decades.
Regulators cited years of noncompliance, stating that the school failed to provide applicable health and safety services for its clients. The state specifically cited neglect, inadequate staffing, and the use of unnecessary restraints.
The license revocation took effect on Monday, and the school must terminate its services by August 6. The facility has 15 days to request a hearing before Utah’s health and human services department.
