German investigators have discovered a third drone and suspected military explosives linked to an attempted attack on Leipzig/Halle Airport. This latest discovery marks the third time this month that a suspicious drone and explosives have been found at the location.
The drone and approximately 50g of suspected military explosives were uncovered on August 14 in Kabelsketal, situated to the west of the airport. This find occurred ten days after an unsuccessful sabotage attempt. One explosives-laden drone was discovered near a Ukrainian Antonov cargo aircraft used for military supplies.
Leipzig/Halle Airport in eastern Germany serves as a key cargo and military logistics hub. It is used by the German military and NATO allies for the transport of military goods and serves as a base for Ukraine's Antonov Airlines.
