Colt Gray, 16, will spend the rest of his life in prison without parole for the September 2024 shooting attack at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. Barrow County Superior Court Judge Nicholas Primm handed down the sentence on Tuesday after hearing testimony and considering evidence from both sides.

Charged as an adult, Gray pleaded guilty to killing two 14-year-old students and two teachers, while also wounding nine other people. A prosecutor stated that the teen carefully plotted the killing specifically to become famous.

The attack was carried out with an assault-style rifle that Gray received for Christmas. It was reported that the teenager idolized mass murderers.
