Météo-France has announced the highest heatwave warning for 35 of France's departments for Sunday, including the Paris region. These administrative districts will be placed under a red heatwave alert starting at noon on Sunday.

In response to punishing temperatures, the French government is taking additional measures as millions gear up for the annual Fete de la Musique festivals. Following a crisis meeting, Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu pre-emptively banned alcohol consumption on Sunday, June 21.

The ban applies to alcohol consumption in public spaces during the Fete de la Musique and other public events held within the affected regions under the alert.
