President Donald Trump stated during a White House cabinet meeting on Wednesday that while Iran is very much intent on making a deal to end their almost three-month war, the United States is not yet satisfied with the offers. This stance has dampened expectations for an imminent breakthrough in negotiations.
Trump warned that Washington will eventually be satisfied with a peace deal, though he provided no specific timeframe. He suggested that Iran cannot out-wait him and asserted that if a satisfactory agreement is not reached, the U.S. will have to finish the job.
Regarding potential terms, the president noted that under a potential deal, the Strait of Hormuz would open immediately without being controlled by any party. Meanwhile, the White House dismissed a report from Iranian state television regarding a draft agreement, calling it a complete fabrication.
