Sam Bankman-Fried, the co-founder and former leader of the now defunct cryptocurrency exchange FTX, has formally applied for a presidential pardon. The application was officially submitted on Monday.
Bankman-Fried is currently serving a 25-year federal prison sentence. This sentence was doled out in 2024.
The conviction stems from the multi-billion dollar collapse of his once-thriving cryptocurrency empire, for which he was convicted of fraud and conspiracy.
