Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has confirmed that Jose Mourinho will return to manage the club if Perez wins the presidential election this Sunday. The announcement was delivered via social media through a short video featuring Mourinho simply saying, "Yes!"
Perez is facing challenger Enrique Riquelme, a renewable energy entrepreneur, in the club's first contested election in 20 years. While Perez campaigns for another term, Riquelme has promised to bring Rodri and Haaland to the LaLiga outfit.
The push for leadership changes follows a disappointing period for the 15-time Champions League winners. Real Madrid has failed to secure major silverware in the last two seasons, with Barcelona winning back-to-back league titles and Real exiting Europe's top club competition at the quarter-final stage in both years.
Mourinho previously guided Real Madrid to a record LaLiga points tally in 2012. The Portuguese coach last lifted a league title during his time with Chelsea in 2015.
