President Donald Trump stated on Monday that any agreement reached with Iran should include a mandatory requirement for several regional countries to join the Abraham Accords. These U.S.-brokered agreements, established during Trump's first term, are aimed at normalizing relations with Israel.
Trump has requested that countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Pakistan join the accords en masse. He specified that the process should begin with the immediate signing by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, with other nations following suit. This move is intended to complement an interim peace deal currently being negotiated with Iran.
The president suggested that Iran itself could eventually join the Abraham Accords once a peace agreement with the United States is reached, noting that nations like Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt would be honored by Iran's inclusion. Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress have warned against making concessions to Iran in any emerging deal to end the war.
