France and Saudi Arabia have signed an agreement for the oil-rich Gulf kingdom to invest €6 billion to create three amusement parks near Paris. The announcement was made on Monday during a two-day visit to the French capital by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, which also focused on bilateral deals and the current crisis in the Middle East.
The project grew out of a 2024 meeting between Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and President Macron in Saudi Arabia, where the two discovered a shared passion for manga, specifically Dragon Ball Z. As a result, the theme park complex will include at least one area dedicated to Japanese manga comic books.
The parks are set to be constructed in Cergy-Pontoise to the northwest of Paris, with the Dragon Ball project potentially located in Courdimanche. The construction of the three new parks was given the green light following the €6 billion investment from a Saudi investment company.
