Pro-Palestinian activists aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla have accused the Israeli military of abuse after being intercepted while attempting to bring aid to Gaza. Organizers claim that activists were subjected to abuse during their detention in Israeli custody.
According to organizers, 430 people were detained, with several individuals later hospitalized due to their injuries. The allegations include claims that tens of people suffered broken bones and that some were shot with rubber bullets at close range.
Furthermore, organizers report that foreign activists have alleged at least 15 cases of sexual assault, including rape.
The Israeli prison service and military have strongly denied these allegations of beatings and sexual assault.
