An Austrian Airlines flight from Tel Aviv to Vienna made an emergency landing in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Sunday night, October 18. The Airbus A320, flight OS82, was diverted after a bomb threat was reported near the Bulgarian-Romanian border.
Bulgarian authorities stated that the crew decided to land in Sofia following the threat. During the operation, the aircraft was escorted by a Bulgarian MiG-29 fighter jet.
All 51 passengers were evacuated from the aircraft after landing. A total of 57 people were aboard the flight.
The emergency landing occurred just weeks after a FlyDubai pilot attempted to hijack an Israel-bound plane.
