The winners of Sunday's World Cup final between Spain and Argentina will receive championship rings in addition to the traditional trophy and gold medals, FIFA announced.
This move marks the first time FIFA has awarded rings to the winner of one of its competitions. It is viewed as the latest sign of the governing body's push to Americanise its flagship tournament.
The rings for players will be a limited edition of 2,026 individually numbered pieces, with the rest available for public sale.
