Essa Suleiman, a 45-year-old British national from Camberwell, south London, appeared in a London court on Friday. He has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a bladed article in a public place.
The charges follow a Wednesday attack in Golders Green, north London, during which two Jewish men were stabbed. Both victims remain in stable condition. Suleiman is also charged in connection with the attempted murder of another man, an acquaintance, in a separate incident elsewhere in the city.
Police are treating the Golders Green stabbings as a suspected terrorist incident. The event is the latest in a string of attacks on London's Jewish community in recent weeks, sparking fear and anger. In response, British officials have raised the national terrorism threat to its second-highest level, meaning a terrorist attack is highly likely within the next six months.
