Iran-backed Houthi rebels launched a drone attack on Sunday targeting the state-owned Saudi Aramco Jazan refinery, an oil facility located on the Red Sea Coast in southwestern Saudi Arabia. Firefighters extinguished a fire at the refinery early Sunday following the strike claimed by the group.
These attacks follow a period of increased activity from the armed group since the 2022 truce appeared to be broken last month. The latest strike occurred two days after Saudi Arabia signed a defense pact with Turkey and Pakistan, an alliance stating that an attack against one member would be regarded as an attack on all.
In addition to the targets in Saudi Arabia, strikes by the Houthi rebels killed at least 11 people in the Yemeni port city of Mokha, according to a medical source.
