Christiane Amanpour, CNN’s chief international anchor and one of the most recognized international correspondents of the past four decades, has announced she will leave the network next June.
Amanpour’s departure coincides with a new era for CNN as the news channel comes under the ownership of Skydance Corp. This transition follows an $81 billion merger that brings both CNN and CBS under one roof.
A fixture of the 24/7 news network for more than four decades, Amanpour started her career at the network as an assistant in 1983. Over her 43 years on the job, she became one of the most famous names in broadcast news.
During her tenure, the chief international anchor covered numerous global conflicts, including wars in Rwanda, Afghanistan, Ukraine, and Iran.
