The European Union has issued a $1 billion (€890 million) fine against Google for abusing its market power. The bloc accused the tech giant of favoring its own apps and services in search results, specifically regarding Google Play search.
In response, US President Donald Trump has threatened the European Union with substantial tariffs and a formal trade investigation. Trump accused the EU of robbing American companies and taxpayers, stating on his Truth Social platform that the United States is not a piggybank for Europe.
The US president indicated that the government will investigate EU trade practices, claiming the bloc has unfairly targeted various tech giants. Trump mentioned that fines against Google, Apple, Meta, and Amazon should be entirely reversed.
