Kennedy Center to remove Trump's name by June 12 after court ruling

The Kennedy Center must remove President Donald Trump's name by June 12 following a federal judge's ruling that the rebrand was illegal. A memo issued Thursday instructed staff to remove the name from the building, pamphlets, the website, and all indoor and outdoor signage.

Attorneys for the performing arts venue stated that signage must revert to previous names, such as The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. In addition to the building and digital platforms, staff were ordered to change their email signatures immediately.

In a related move, a U.S. District Judge blocked the Trump administration from closing the venue for major renovations planned for July. While the center was previously scheduled to close for two years of extensive repairs beginning this summer, it is currently unclear if the venue plans to remain open after July 5.

Staff have begun to comply with the court ruling, although the administration may still appeal the decision.
