Ukrainian drones struck a major oil refinery in Russia's Urals region on Thursday. This attack marks the fourth refinery targeted in three days as Kyiv intensifies strikes on energy infrastructure deep inside Russia.
These strikes are part of a months-long campaign by Kyiv to choke Moscow's vital oil sector. With Ukrainian forces launching almost daily attacks on oil refineries, several regions of Russia are facing fuel shortages again.
Russia is one of the world's biggest energy producers, and oil remains an economic mainstay. This economic pressure coincides with Moscow's military attempts to push deeper into Ukraine in a slow and costly advance more than four years after the launch of its full-scale invasion.
