Cameroon claimed their first Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title with a 3-0 victory over Malawi in the final held in Rabat on Sunday. Marie Ngah Manga secured the win for the Indomitable Lionesses, scoring twice in the first half to seal the victory.

This win marks a significant milestone for Cameroon, who had previously lost three finals to 10-time winner Nigeria. The team had also failed to qualify for the previous edition of the tournament before advancing to this final by defeating host nation Morocco on penalties in the semifinals.

Malawi entered the tournament as debutants and a surprise package. They reached the final by overcoming Algeria 3-1 in the semifinals, where Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga both scored. The sisters were instrumental throughout the competition, accounting for nine of Malawi’s 12 total goals.
