Wembanyama scores 35 in playoff debut as Spurs defeat Trail Blazers

sports basketball

Victor Wembanyama led the San Antonio Spurs to a 111-98 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 1 of their first-round Western Conference series on Sunday night. Wembanyama scored 35 points in his playoff debut, setting a new San Antonio record for the most points by a Spurs player making his postseason debut.

The 7-foot-4 star proved difficult to rattle throughout the game. It was nearly as challenging for opponents to shake his composure as it was to get a shot off against him.

While Wembanyama starred in his debut and the Spurs outlasted Portland, other teams also began their post-season runs. The Oklahoma City Thunder and Boston Celtics both made dominant starts to the playoffs.
